Name: William Henry Raymond Date: September 23rd, 1929 - July 13th, 2009 Obituary: WILLIAM HENRY RAYMOND ADRIAN – William Henry Raymond, 79, died July 13, 2009, at his home in Adrian with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 23, 1929, in Adrian the son of Russell B. and Marie (Rorick) Raymond. William graduated from Bryan High School in 1947 and the University of Michigan in 1951. He then served in the armed forces during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He was married to Nancy Delight Heffron on March 26, 1955 at the First Presbyterian Church in Adrian and she passed away September 13, 2005 after 50 years of marriage. William worked in the family automobile business, Raymond Auto Sales Ford, Lincoln, Mercury in downtown Adrian and Raymond Used Car Dealership on S. Main Street until his retirement. William’s grandfather, Samuel W. Raymond, was a brother-in-law of Henry Ford who began the dealership in 1911. An ardent golfer, William was a member of the Lenawee Country Club for 56 years in Adrian, and the Cottonwood Country Club in Sun Lakes, Arizona. He was also a member of Rotary Club for over fifty years, the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, the American Legion Post # 97, the VFW Annis Fint Post #1584, a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church in Adrian and the Family Bible Church in Chandler, Arizona. William is survived by three daughters, Diane Raymond (Bruce) Sapiro of Chandler, AZ; Kathryn Raymond (Tim) Mouser, also of Chandler, AZ; and Nancy Raymond (Dave) Wiesman of Adrian; five grandchildren: Jennifer and Todd Sapiro of Chandler, AZ; Taylor and Suzanne Mouser, also of Chandler, AZ; and Megan McDermott of Adrian; and two step-grandchildren, David and Ashleigh Wiesman of Chandler, AZ. Also surviving is a brother, Russ (Norma) Raymond of Marquette, MI; cousins, Mike Watts and John (Laurie) Raymond, both of Adrian; brother-in-law, Howard C. Heffron of Cave Creek, AZ; nephews: Jeff (Becky) Houghton of Fountain Hills, AZ; Samuel Raymond of Copper Harbor, MI; John (Karin) Heffron of Ridgefield, CT; and Howard H. Heffron of Chesterton, IN; and nieces: Kim Raymond (Chris) Raper of Adrian; Patty Heffron (Mark) Armstrong of Chesterton, IN; Tracy Heffron (Mike) Wright of Indianapolis, IN; Susan Heffron (John) Krametbauer of Peoria, AZ; and Mary Heffron (Sam) Hansen of San Diego, CA. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, William Heffron Raymond; and his sister, Kathryn Raymond Houghton. The funeral service for William will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church with Greg Grover and Jeff Houghton officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the VFW Annis Fint Post #1584 and the American Legion Post #97.
