ADRIAN – Richard “Blondy” Davis, age 82 of Adrian, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, at Tendercare of Adrian.
Richard was born September 14, 1926, the oldest child of Daniel and Margaret (Wolfe) Davis. During World War II, he served in the US Navy on the USS Cowpens aircraft carrier.
On September 21, 1947, Richard married Donna Dennis in Adrian. Donna, his wife of over 61 years, survives.
Richard worked for Consumers Energy for 37 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time fishing, hunting and playing golf. Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge #69 in Tecumseh, the Fairfield Eastern Star #224 and the Moose. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Adrian where he served as a Deacon and on the Finance Committee.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Michael) Easter of Ypsilanti; his son, Richard F. (Deborah) Davis of Sand Creek; seven grandchildren: Mark (Melissa) Easter, Jeremy and Kristin Easter, Brian Threet, Jennifer Stucker, Shana (Ryan) Love and Brittany Taylor; and four great grandchildren, McKenna and Mollie Easter, Jaxson Stucker and Marcus Walker. Also surviving are four sisters: Dorothy Kurtz of Adrian; Rita (LDean) Trolz of Brooklyn; Ruth (Jaye) Stewlow and Anne Schultz , both of Toledo, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Davis in infancy and a daughter, Sue Anne Threet.
The funeral service for Richard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2009 at Wagley Funeral Home with Rev. George Butler and Rev. Geoff Koglin officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Annis Fint Post #1584 of the VFW. Private burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. You may also send condolences to the family at www.wagleyfuneralhome.com.
