ADRIAN – Marion Theodore (Lisowski) Lange, age 85 of Adrian, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, March 23, 2009.
Marion was born on December 6, 1923 to Gregory and Josephine (Broniszewski) Lisowski in Piwniczna, Poland. On October 31, 1951 he married Betty Jeanne Baughey in Adrian. Betty, his wife of over 40 years, preceded him in death in 1992.
As a teenager in Poland, Marion was captured by Nazi German soldiers and put into the forced labor camp, Dachau. He escaped from captivity and joined the US Army in England. In 1948, he immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen in 1954.
Marion worked for Michigan Milk Producers for many years making butter and the best cottage cheese. He was very active in the Adrian Senior Center, the American Legion, the Moose and various dance clubs. He loved polka, square, line and ballroom dancing. He just received his 40 year membership certificate for the Adrian Amateur Radio Club where he participated regularly. He loved to travel and cherished his heritage, making several trips back to Poland over the years.
Marion is survived by his children, Karol “KZ” Bolton and her husband Dennis of Adrian, and David Wayne Chase and his wife Norma of New Jersey; his four grandchildren, Michael Lee (Deloris) Osborne, Jr., Michelle (Robert) Sweeney, Christopher (Megan) Chase, and Laura (Christopher) Foy; he is also survived by his nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Marion is preceded in death by his siblings, Alexander, Michelle, and Czeslawa; and a grandson, Baby Boy Osborne.
The funeral service for Marion will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wagley Funeral Home with Fr. Louis Komorowski presiding. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be private.
