Obituary:
ADRIAN – Johnny M. Carroll, age 63 of Adrian, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. Johnny was born May 20, 1945 in Wise County Virginia, the son of Claude and Goldie (Bishop) Carroll. Johnny served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. On September 3, 1981, Johnny married Betty Jones-Creger in Adrian. Betty, his wife of 27 years, survives. Johnny worked for the US Fish & Wildlife Service in Ann Arbor for 25 years before retirement. He was a member of the Lenawee Chapter #20 of the DAV, the Annis Fint Post #1584 of the VFW, and the NRA. A foster parent for many years, he was also an active member of the Lenawee County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association. Johnny was well-known at area restaurants where he enjoyed having coffee with friends. His top priority was spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Johnny is survived by his children, Jerry (Laura) Creger of Jasper, Nick (Nancy) Creger of Adrian; Brian (LaLonnie) Creger also of Adrian; Brad (Laurie Howell) Creger of Jacksonville, FL; Cynthia Ruiz of Ingalls, IN; Amanda Carroll of Detroit; Heather Carroll of Ft. Myers, FL; Danielle Carroll of Ft. Wayne, IN; Janessa Carroll of Adrian; Jeff Arnold of Vero Beach, FL; Melissa (John) Crawford of Union Grove, NC; his 18 grandchildren, Christa (fiance, Adam Burch) Creger, Cassandra and Cody Creger, Michael Clough, Nicholas Creger, Thomas Stetten, Sabrina and Jessica Creger, Kurtis and Kaleb Creger, Trinity Santana, Damien Rosas, Destany Barcenas,Olivia, Ava, Jeffrey and Daniel Arnold, and Jenna Crawford; and three great grandchildren Hemmie Burch, Alexis Terrell and Jaysen Stetten. Also surviving are two sisters, Kay Schadewald of TX and Pat (Al) Nosler of IL; and a special niece, Penny Collins of Washington, DC. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy. The funeral service for Johnny will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009 at Wagley Funeral Home with Hospice Chaplain Geoff Koglin officiating and military honors conducted by various local veteran organizations. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. You may also sign the register book and send condolences at www.wagleyfuneralhome.com.
