Name: Bernice Johnson Date: May 16th, 1911 - March 11th, 2009 Obituary: ADRIAN – Bernice E. Johnson, age 97 of Adrian, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Provincial House. Bernice was born May 16, 1911 in Raisin Township, the only child of Edward and Elvira (Hasley) Wahl. On July 9, 1977, Bernice married I. C. “Johnnie” Johnson in Adrian. Johnnie, her husband of over 31 years, survives. Bernie worked in the housekeeping department at Bixby Medical Center for many years, retiring in 1976. She was a life member of Christ Redeemer Lutheran Church. Bernie loved to dance and was well-known for her wonderful pies. In addition to her husband, Bernie is survived by her step-children, Delores (Tom) Schultz of Warren, PA; Linda Gentry of Adrian; Richard (Marty) Johnson of Lander, WY; and Mary Jo (Richard) Jackson of Palmyra; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Reinhart Malzahn. The funeral service for Bernie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Christ Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Rentner officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
